Residencies

As a flexible ensemble, we can tailor each residency to your needs by programming any of the following five elements.

I. Concert

Marinus artists offer an inspiring performance showcasing brilliant technique and unique programming style.

II. Listening Workshop

Marinus welcomes the public to take a look off stage into the rehearsal process. Artists perform excerpts from their program, and then dive in discussing dynamics, debating characters and experimenting with phrasing—giving the audience new ways of listening to and approaching music.

III. Philosophical Talks

Fostering a broader understanding of the place music holds in society and culture Marinus invites guest professors to lecture on art and music in collaboration with a concert. Topics include:

  1. Silence in Music: Anticipations of Hope (from Max Picard)
  2. Universal but not Abstract: the Form of Beauty (from Guardini)
  3. On Love and Contemplation (from Pieper)

IV. Masterclass: Chamber/Solo

Marinus artists listen to solo or chamber ensembles perform and coach the student(s) through each piece discussing concerns specific to that performance.

V. Private Lessons

Marinus artists teach individual lessons, working with each student on his/her particular technical and musical questions.
